AT Sculpture Garden - Anthony, Kansas Where Bugs Come Alive Studio and the AT Sculpture Garden are located across the street from the handsome Harper County Courthouse in Anthony, Kansas. This is one of the newest grassroots art environments in Kansas, as Don Atha created the first bug, Cat-apillar, in August 2023. He has already completed 86 of the recycled metal sculptures and may be slowing down soon, since his goal is to create about 100. Many of them are in the AT Sculpture Garden outside the studio, while others can be found all over Anthony and a map is available to help you find them. We spotted what became two of our favorite bugs on our way into town to visit the AT Sculpture Garden. The Jack and Mildred Bugs welcome you to the old Jack’s Service Station and Bar, located at the Southeast corner of Main Street and Massachusetts Avenue. Between them is a "diagnostic testing machine" created from an old Bone Stimulator device. Mildred's body is comprised of two Freon tanks, and her head is an old shovel. Corney, Marty, and Stevie, also known as Tres Amigobugs can be found riding Anthony Ant in front of The Sporting Zone on Kansas 2, coming into Anthony from the north. Bowling Ball Trophy Bug is also there, up close to the building. The Anthony Republican Newspaper Bug is in the heart of town in front of the newspaper office. The body of the Bug is a repurposed newspaper dispenser. Photos of many more of Don Atha's creations can be found
on his Facebook
Page.
