Turkey Vulture (Cathartes aura) "Herman Munster" in flight
Screech owls, Lucy & Ricky Ricardo are from the same clutch. Lucy
is much larger because
she is a female. The difference in color comes from Lucy being gray
phase while Ricky is red phase.
Templeton is a Great Horned Owl (Bubo virginianus) who came
to Eagle Valley Raptor Center from
Kansas Wildlife & Parks as a juvenile. Templeton is impressed on
people and is used in special programs.
Harris Hawk (Parabuteo unicinctus) - "Hanna Montana"
Tara is an Eurasian eagle owl (Bubo bubo) who came to
Eagle Valley Raptor Center from the
World Bird Sanctuary in St. Louis, Missouri where she was captive born.
This campfire area is used for story telling at Eagle Valley. Sometime
Native Americans participate in the program.
The trail leading off goes to an active beaver dam.
Covered pavilion for lunches, cookouts or catered dinners.
These are just a few of the chainsaw sculptures which will be available
at a silent auction called "Bidding for the Birds"
in November at the Sedgwick County Extension Office in Wichita. There
will also be wildlife prints and paintings,
metal art, taxidermy mounts and many other wildlife theme items with
the proceeds helping provide food and
veterinary care for the injured and orphaned birds of pray at the Eagle
Valley Raptor Center.
